Christian Homes, Inc., a part of the Christian Horizons, a leader in senior living and senior health care services across the Midwest, announces the sale of its Wabash Christian Village-Skilled Nursing Program.

Effective December 1, 2023, the skilled nursing program in Carmi, IL, Wabash Christian Village-Skilled Nursing, will be owned and managed by Southern Illinois provider WLC.

“Our decision to sell this community program has been difficult,” said Kate Bertram, Christian Horizons’ president and chief executive officer. “In response to our strategic plan to contract, the services we provide to grow into the needs of the next generation were a key aspect of the decision.”

“Our Board of Directors and Executive team felt the timing was right to make this decision in achieving our path to recovering after the Covid impact on the organization. We must make tough decisions now to thrive in the future. Our mission has not changed, but how and where we provide care and services has to,” said Bertram.

Sandra Bryant, Executive Director, added “It has been a pleasure to serve as the Executive Director at Wabash Christian Village for nearly 21 years.  Words cannot express the deep gratitude I have for the support Carmi and the surrounding counties have shown Wabash Christian Village.  I have met many wonderful people from residents I will never forget, to associates who have worked by my side for years, and to our amazing supporters and donors who allowed us to go above and beyond for our residents.  Wabash Christian Village will always hold a special place in my heart.  I am thankful that Christian Horizons will continue to be a vital part of our community with Wabash Christian Supportive Living, Wabash Christian Therapy, and Heritage Apartments and I am thankful for the opportunity to continue to be part of this wonderful ministry.”

Christian Horizons will continue its 60-year tradition of empowering older adults in mind, body, and spirit through faith-led service. It will also emphasize its CHLife experience for residents and associates alike. CHLife is delivered through meaningful programming, profound experiences, goal-achieving development, and meaningful compensation and benefits for our associates.
