Christian Horizons (CH) is extending its mission internationally by partnering with Myanmar Hope Christian Mission (MHCM).
First, a little background about our new partner. While studying at Lincoln Christian University, Dr. Palal Khongsai had a vision to return to his native Myanmar and begin a ministry to start new churches and assist those trapped in poverty.
Today - 10 years later - MHCM oversees 21 churches, conducts leadership conferences and runs a boarding school and a sustainable farm. All ministries employ indigenous leadership.
The next chapter in the ministry is to reach out to Myanmar’s most vulnerable – older adults with no one to care for them. This outreach clearly aligns with the CH mission.
THE PROJECT Build a new 7 bedroom home on property already owned by MHCM to accommodate 6 older adults and caregiver. We’re calling this the New Pathway Home, because it provides residents a new pathway to well-being.
THE PROMISE At their March meeting, the CH board authorized funds to build the first New Pathway Home and provide the first year of operating expenses – a $32,000 commitment.
THE OPPORTUNITY For more information visit our new Facebook page – Hope on the Horizon – and the electronic giving page – both of which are linked below. Full sponsorship of one resident for one month is $165, half - $85 – quarter $45. These sponsorships include food, clothing, transportation, caregiver and home maintenance.
I hope you will join me in praying this new partnership will serve Myanmar’s most vulnerable for many years to come.
