Next stop: Northern lights!

--Interview with John R., Independent Living resident

John is one of our independent living residents. And he’s a wonderful and positive person who helps make our community such a great place to live. We talked to him recently about life at Lewis Memorial during this time of social distancing.

With visitors to the community, how have you been able to stay connected to family?

I’ve been staying connected by texting and phone.

Who made you smile today?

My grandsons, who are 14 and 12 years old. They told me today all about digging up a spot in the backyard for a garden for their mother.

If you could thank one person who would it be and why?

I would thank the Lord Jesus for all our blessings.

Once this situation has passed, what would you do first?

I would hug everyone in our family because I love and miss them. And then, I would take my wife to all the states we haven’t been to yet. But most of all, I’d like to take her to a place where she can see the Northern Lights.

What do you miss most during this time?

Having people over for pie or dessert and simply visiting around our dining room table.

Who do you most look forward to seeing each day and why?

I look forward to seeing my wife each day because she is a pleasure to be around and truly an inspiration.
