Christian Horizons using video chat apps to help residents stay connected

Posted on: May 07, 2020

Christian Horizons has developed strategies to help people stay connected during the COVID-19 pandemic. In lieu of visits, Christian Horizons is encouraging strategies such as Facebook, FaceTime and Google Duo.

Already a group vulnerable to both COVID-19 and social isolation, social distancing can therefore be challenging for older adults because they have fewer chances to interact with other people.

Video calls through smart phones and tablets help residents stay in touch with family, friends and the community. You get to see your seniors and they get to see you.

Since it’s best to keep a physical distance, now is the greatest time to have conversations via phone calls, video chats and e-mail. Talk about the small stuff — from how good your coffee was this morning, what book you are reading and how cute the dog looks when he sleeps. Every little bit is worth the conversation.

With these technologies, you can bring together all the people who matter most, even when you're apart. Contact your Christian Horizons community and let us help you connect.
