- Physicians, including attending physician
- Counselors including spiritual, bereavement and dietary
- Hospice aides
- Volunteers
- Physical, occupational and/or speech therapists
Hospice Volunteers in Action
Amanda does supplemental office work to make sure all hospice services are coordinated, tracked and documented.
Judy shares devotions and sings for a patient who can’t attend church, but loves when “church comes to him.”
Pat provides hair care for patients who still like to look their best.
Volunteers are selected from among candidates who commit the necessary time for preparation to meet high standards. For those whose applications both meet standards for volunteers, training and orientation is made available. After this is completed, a final screening and assignments will be made. With primary consideration for the patient, the volunteer coordinator will make assignments that consider the volunteer’s talents and schedules.
Volunteers assist Safe Haven Hospice patients with:
- Reading
- Praying
- Assisting with Memorial Services
- Music
- Office Tasks
- Companionship
- Emotional and Spiritual Support
- Household Tasks
- Other Interests
Safe Haven Hospice volunteers are welcomed members of the hospice team. If you’re compassionate, life valuing, encouraging and helpful, volunteering may be right for you. For volunteer information in central Illinois, contact our volunteer coordinator at 855.879.4096.
